He Had a Gut Feeling
When Walter was 22 years old, he found out that he had a rare form of cancer that would take his life in just a few short months. He was a born-again Christian and had high hopes of becoming a pastor someday. Walter always had such strong faith in the gospel message. Now at 22, he was facing the worst fear of his life. Death was something that he never thought about.
For many months, Walter was feeling ill, tired, and run down. He thought that maybe his school studies were getting to him or perhaps he was working too much. Either way, he needed a doctor's check-up. His mother booked him an appointment and she was happy to help him. The doctor first assured Walter that he had nothing to worry about. He saw the sad look on his face and said, “Everything is going to be alright. During Walter’s checkup, the doctor couldn’t find anything wrong with him. His temperature, blood pressure, and vital signs looked to be okay. However, the doctor decided to run some blood tests on him.
When Walter received the blood test results, he felt an eery feeling. Something was wrong. He could tell by the doctor's look in his eye. With amazement, the doctor told him that he had a rare form of cancer that did not have a good life expectancy or treatment. Walters's first reaction was fear, pain, and worry about why this had to happen to him. Walter knew that his life was about to become even more painful because of the pressure that he was having in his life.
After a few days, Walter began thanking God for giving him insight and knowledge into what was actually wrong with him. He finally realized that it was his time to go. He didn’t know why God wanted to take him so young. However, he realized that being angry would not solve his issue. He just accepted the fact that not everyone is meant to see their 90th birthday. Some people just die young for no apparent reason of their own. Death often happens suddenly and unexpectedly. God has his reasons for his children dying young or old. We must learn to have faith in him.
Many people across the world today face a young death. For whatever reason, their life was taken short. We must thank God each day for giving us another day. Praise him!
